What to Expect at Your First Visit?

Your first appointment with us typically lasts about 90 minutes. While some visits may take less time, we intentionally reserve this time to ensure you feel relaxed, heard, and well cared for. This visit allows us to get to know you, learn about your dental goals, and perform a thorough evaluation of your oral health.

During your visit, we will:

• Review your medical and dental history in detail
• Perform a comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums, and bite
• Complete an oral cancer screening
• Take a full set of digital X-rays (unless recent, high-quality images are provided)
• Capture an intraoral wellness scan – a non-X-ray, video-style scan – to enhance diagnosis and treatment planning

After gathering all necessary information, Dr. Como will personally review your results with you and discuss any recommended treatment options. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, express concerns, and feel fully informed before moving forward.

Will I Have My Teeth Cleaned at My First Appointment?

Cleanings are scheduled as a separate 45-60-minute visit with our hygienist to ensure you receive the focused care you deserve. While many patients would prefer to have their teeth cleaned during the first visit, this depends on your individual needs, expectations, and the health of your gums.

During your initial appointment, we will thoroughly evaluate your oral health to determine the most appropriate type of cleaning. If a cleaning is clinically appropriate and has been scheduled in advance, it will be provided-unless our evaluation indicates that alternative care is recommended.
